Renovation of a kitchen, living room, and dining room – Luberon
In the Luberon, this 272 m² house underwent a comprehensive renovation aimed at revealing the quality of the existing structure while reinterpreting its uses.
Originally, the living spaces particularly the kitchen were compartmentalised, unclear in layout, and underutilised despite their generous size. The terracotta floor tiles, the brick vaulted ceilings in the living room, and the original features already in place were not being showcased. The project was therefore developed around a balance between preservation and transformation.
The kitchen layout was redesigned as a true structuring living space. Positioned in continuity with the walls, it naturally follows the flow of movement and emphasizes the transition between the two rooms, creating a fluid and harmonious connection.
The framed cabinet fronts, intentionally given a patinated finish, reflect a restrained and timeless aesthetic. They are complemented by custom-made wrought iron shelving, adding an artisanal and graphic dimension to the overall design. Storage has been integrated directly within the thickness of the walls, following a principle of visual discretion to enhance the architectural reading of the space.
New lighting fixtures highlight the brick vaults and support the various uses of the space, reinforcing the perception of volume.
In the living room, the focus was on the seamless integration of technical constraints. Cupboards and the utility room were concealed behind reworked joinery incorporating reclaimed antique doors. This approach anchors the project in historical continuity while providing a contemporary response.
