THE COUNTRYSIDE

Renovation of a Country House – Luberon

In this project, the intervention focused on redefining the living spaces by working on continuity and the hierarchy of volumes. The removal of the siporex partition between the kitchen and dining room opened up sightlines and restored a sense of centrality to the main living area. Closing off an existing doorway clarified circulation and reinforced the overall readability of the layout.

The kitchen was entirely redesigned around a central island, conceived as a standalone element. Its deliberately distinct treatment introduces a subtle contrast with the more understated surrounding cabinetry, creating a balanced interplay between unity and singularity. Open shelving, supported by corbels, reinterprets vernacular codes in a refined, minimalist language.

The custom-made plaster hood, crafted by a master artisan, stands as a true architectural feature, structuring the space while asserting a clear reference to traditional architecture.

The replacement of the flooring with light natural stone contributes to the unification of the spaces and enhances the perception of volume. The existing beams were preserved and highlighted, anchoring the project in continuity with the original building.

The overall composition expresses a controlled architectural language, where materials, proportions, and details interact to offer a contemporary and sensitive interpretation of the Provençal spirit.
